Default Skins & Hunting

Hi GW people, a silly question I am sure, but....

I have been playing for a little while (3 months), and spend quite a bit of time posting my finds on the price check forum and, of course, getting the standard "merch" response.

Sometimes people ask me, "is it the canthan skin" or "tyrian skin" which I get in terms of where it comes from, but as I tend to hop around all over the place, is there an easy way for me to know whether an item is canthan etc by just looking at it?

I suspect it may be something you just pick up and learn along the way but thought I'd ask in case I am missing something.

The second question I have is more some ideas and opinions. I have just completed EoN so I now have hard mode on all campaigns (yay!).

I want to spend some time trying to find skins of value as I am desperate to find an item that generates a positive response on the PC forum (just a personal goal of mine!).

Can anyone recommend areas to hunt that are good for rare skin drops? Sorry if that's a silly question, but despite just completing the campaigns I am still but a noob!

Thanks in advance for any advice,

You will have to check wiki if you are in doubt. Several items come in versions with different skins but same name. Wiki has pics of them. One place to hunt for rare skins is the Echovald forest where you can get Amber Aegis, Echovald shield a.o. They can be worth a fortune with the right mods, but you are most likely to get even more merch items or something thats worth a few k max. Generally you can find various rare skins all over factions. Also the reward chests of EOTN dungeons and FOW and UW can give rare skins of which some are real valuable (crystalline and obsi swords, voltaic spears etc)

Check the wiki for pictures of the weapons and their skins.

Because the game has been relatively stagnant for a couple of years (as far as new content goes) there's not much of a market for anything except the very rarest skins, such as Bone Dragon staff, Voltaic Spear, etc., that mostly come from dungeon reward chests.
